ViaSleev is developing a passive PLA-based liner that releases corrosion inhibitors at controlled rates inside mining water pipelines. Inspired by arterial stents, the liner fits within compatible pipe sections and delivers inhibitors without a powered dosing pump. Its innovation lies in combining polymer design and controlled chemical release within the pipeline itself. Compared with conventional pumped dosing, this approach aims to reduce equipment maintenance, energy use, and interruptions caused by dosing equipment failure. Laboratory testing will evaluate corrosion protection, release consistency, service life, and effects on water flow before field trials and commercial deployment.
